Sunday morning we left Louise's and headed north to San Fransisco. The traffic was heavy and put me on edge. I'm happy to be leaving cities and Southern California behind tomorrow. I have had enough of crowds, traffic and cities in general. It was fun, but it is time for some wide open spaces and clear lanes ahead of me.
We took a detour over the Oakland Bay Bridge for the kids sake. Above is looking back a the Bay bridge from Treasure Island.
The Bay bridge is double decker!
It really doesn't take much to impress us midwesterners!
Fisherman's Wharf.
Our hotel was nearby within walking distance. A trick I quickly learned in these large cities. It was a Best Western Hotel but by far the fanciest Best Western I have ever seen. They had valet parking! We had to google how much to tip a valet attendant. Apparently a rule of thumb is $1 for every $10,000 of car. So, $.30 for the van? I was a tad embarrassed to be driving a 12 year old vehicle that was dented in the front.
We headed to the Wharf for seafood and shopping.
We ordered a seafood platter and the boys commenced eating all the strange stuff.
Octopus? Squid? Strange kids!
A 10 pound Maine Lobster.
Walking the Pier 39 after dinner. The famous Sea Lions are in the bottom left of the picture.
It may look peaceful, but it was crowded. To crowded for my taste.
The sun setting being the USS Jeremiah O' Brien and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Alcatraz.
Tomorrow, the Redwoods.
