Many, many years ago in another life Sandy and Matt worked at an Indian School in Show Low Arizona. They wanted to visit and show their kids around.
Here the boys are discovering cactus and marveling over its needles. I'm surprised they didn't get poked!
Sandy also wanted to show us her favorite place to look for pottery shards on a hill behind the dorms.
I found the first piece.
Can you see it? It is in the middle under the large rock.
Some pottery was red, some checkered.
Some was corregated.
Some was black and white. Those were the easiest to find.

The kids had a great time!
It is believed that this hill was a trash heap for the Anasazi. It may seem like a rare thing and that it should be an archeology site, but there are so many places like this that it very common in the area. Sandy used to roam the forest finding broken pottery regularly.

This is the final collection collected by us Bakers. See the point in the middle? It is a broken spear point or arrowhead.
We ended the day by staying at a hotel in Show Low. This time we have a bathroom...and...A SHOWER!
