These pre-Civil War fences are everywhere.
We stopped for a brief visit at the Antietam Civil War Battlefield. I wish I could explain the battle and who won but it is not quite that easy. I need more research and time to give the story, so for now we just have a few pictures. We hope to come back at a later date and explore further.
A monument erected over a hundred years ago to allow a visitor to view the battlefield.
A view from the top of the tower.
A view from another direction.
Looking down inside the tower at Maria.
The boys posing with a canon that marks the spot where a general was mortally wounded.
This church has ties to the battle, but I don't know the history. We only had 15 minutes in the park.
