After leaving the DC traffic behind we headed south toward Assateague Island for our next stop. When we came up on Annapolis Pete recommended we stop for a late lunch at a crab place he knew about. We parked the vans and took a walk down the main drag.
Chick and Ruth's restaurant.
Annapolis is a harbor town. The Navel Accadamey is there along with some deep American history. We didn't stay long, but I would recommend visiting. I will say this, the people changed dramatically from the people of DC. Here most everyone was white and preppy. Lots of Ralph Lauren, tidy haircuts and tanned skin.
This was a unique restaurant! Crowed, chaotic, loud and last but not least a "Greasey Spoon". Great food but I doubt they would survive a surprise inspection by the heath department.
I forgot to ask what the story was with the bagels hanging from the ceiling.
So apparently they have a contest to see if you can drink a 6 pound milkshake. This guy was doing it while we were there.
Here are other challenges you can partake in if you so desire.
Check out that crab cake! It was fantastic and the best I have ever had. Really, that's not saying much, after all I live in Kansas where crab is fake.
