The West Spanish Peak

The next day we attempted the West Spanish Peak trail.  The trail goes to the peak but we only planned on making it to the tree line.

Because of the abundant rain this summer there were mushrooms everywhere.  I keep a handful of informational nature guides in the cabin for hikes like this.

The kids really enjoyed finding and naming the mushrooms.

The peak is behind the clouds.

We turned back when the mist started moving in.

Back at the trailhead the mist had enveloped us.

It looked like we were in the Pacific Northwest.

After the hike we stopped at our favorite Dog Bar and Grill for lunch.

We also stopped to do some fishing at Blue Lake and immediately got rained out, much to Nathaniel's disappointment.
