We really had been wanting to try the Trinchera Peak 4 wheel drive road. We took our chance on Wednesday. Maria and Heather kept most of the kids and visited Cuchara. Ben, Timmy, Chad, Mike and I took the jeep up the mountain.
Chad has the skinniest butt, he got the back seat with the kids.
I even let Mike drive a little.

Almost to the top was a mine that we stopped to explore. Timmy was playing with his new slingshot, there were plenty of rocks to choose from.
The machinery was used to pull the rail cars out of the mountain. The actual mine was about 50 yards up the mountain. Mike and Ben hiked up there, but we didn't.
Our Jeep was hot from the exertion it took to get us up there. Chad popped the hood to let it cool off while we explored.
