The Tower of London is packed with so much history that I can't even begin to tell you all of it here. I will give a brief overview. The reason why there is so much is that the place (the original part of it) was built in the 1077's in William the Conqueror's days. If I have time in the next few days I will add more history and detail to this post.
Nora and a Beefeater. Her strange smile is her trying to understand why I just told her to go stand next to a stranger and put an arm around him. There are so many contradictions in parenting, are there not?
These are cannons. The Tower has been a palace, jail, torture chamber, and fortress in it's almost thousand years of use.
The White Tower.
The Tower of London is more like a castle wall surrounding several "towers" and buildings that are varying in age.
This picture is taken from the White Tower. Mostly because I'm obsessed with getting a good - no, FANTASTIC picture of the Tower Bridge and the Olympic Rings. I'm going to go try one more time tomorrow morning.
This place has a name, I'm sure of it. It's where the Crown Jewels are kept. They are in a neat exhibit, sorry we were not allowed to take pictures. The gold and diamonds would have blinded you anyway.
Barney, this is for you and no, I wasn't allowed to get any closer.
