On Friday we left the Barnes house for a 4 day trip to the Cotswolds and Bath. The Cotswolds are an area in England the size of one of our counties full of quaint villages and farms. It looks like something out of a fairy tale. The area was know for it’s wool production in medieval times. It was a wealthy area due to the high quality of wool they produced. When the industrial revolution came around and cotton became the fabric of choice the local economy crashed. Because the people who lived there no longer could afford to build new homes the homes became gracefully dilapidated. Now they are quaint villages some quiet and peaceful and others full of tourists. Bed and Breakfasts abound here. We spent Friday driving through and visiting several of these Cotswolds villages.
The first one we stopped at was Lower Slaughter. It only had a few tourists, one shop, a hotel and a water wheel mill.
We took lots of pictures and headed on to the next town.
