Memorial Day Trip

Our Memorial Day trip to Colorado!

Of course a trip to Colorado in the springtime must include a trip to Sand Dunes National Park.

This year the word was out and the line was a half mile from the gate to get into the park.

The road leading into the parking lot.  Most of the visitors are locals.  No one outside the area expects a beach in the Rocky Mountains.

The crowd was huge, but the dunes and Medano Creek are also huge, allowing us to move upstream away from the crowd.

This year I was determined to avoid the sun and brought a pagoda.  We set up camp and watched the kids play the day away.

I brought some kites for the kids to play with.

The Bainums, Changs and Alan were with us.  Above is my darling Izzy K.  She kept clean and just watched the action.

Eventually the rain drove us away mid afternoon after the wind blew over my new pagoda and broke it.
