We scheduled our visit to be right before the fall harvest, but because it has been such an unusual year for weather the soybeans were ready to be cut while we were there. We didn't mind one bit. Chad had been wanting to do some farming and the boys jumped at the chance to ride tractors.

Picking the soybeans. I explained to the kids that those beans helped to buy their Christmas presents. They were careful then to not throw them on the ground.
Nora didn't care for riding in the Combine but she sure liked looking in the wagons at the beans.
dumping beans from the combine into the wagons. The wagons are then taken to the local grain elevator and sold or taken back to the farm to be stored and sold at a later time.
