On Wednesday Susan arrived and on Thursday some of us headed out to do some off roading.
The road leading to Hermit Pass.
After the last trip to Colorado we learned about airing down. By airing down the tires you obtain more traction and a softer ride.
Hermit peak, our destination.
Chad coming up through tree line.
Above tree line. The spot in the middle is Chad and Mike in the 4runner.
Close to the top of the mountain there is a lake. The clouds were waiting for us.
Nathaniel
Maggy
Despite the fact that it was August, it sleeted on the way up. See the snow behind Maggy?
Passed the lake and heading to the top.
Some marmots we saw on the way up.
The view back into the Wet Mountain Valley.
Looking back at the lake.
Susan and the girls in my Jeep.
Looking back at the road we took.
At the top in the clouds.
Mike
Once again, notice the snow.
After bouncing around for hours we took a break on our way back down. The kids played in the stream while we let the breaks cool down.
Ben and Tim crossing the creek.
Getting back to the cabin was a relief after the rocky road.
