Up the road aways was the Bonanza Empire Chief Mine. The main building had collapsed in the last couple of years, unfortunately. It once was a 3 story structure.
Of course, Matt was quickly off to explore.

The best part was the hole someone had made allowing access.

We hiked in about 75 yards following the rails for the mine carts. There was quite a bit of water in the mine. We had to stop after we came to a pool to deep to cross. Don't worry, the tunnel was very sturdy, if it in anyway look dangerous we would not have allowed the kids in there.
