Girls weekend

This last weekend some girlfriends and I headed out to the cabin to have some down time and to paint the floors.  Being early May, it is still winter out there.  The week before 3 feet of snow had fallen.  Thankfully, by the time we arrived most of it had cleared.

I was the first to get there and the clouds had settled on the mountain leaving the place with an erie feeling.

I first cleared out the living room and got it painted first thing.  Knowing that we would need a place to sit and hang out while the rest of the cabin was in chaos I started there.

Looking down on the living room after the floor was painted.  I wish we could afford the flooring, but that is nowhere in the foreseeable future and I just couldn't stand the sight of the rough subfloors anymore.

On Thursday my friend Melissa flew in from Oklahoma City.   It was her first trip to the cabin and the first in a long time to Colorado.

I enjoyed showing her around and took her the long way back through the Wet Mountain Valley.  The Scenery did not disappoint.

The kitchen was next on the list, here is the before picture.

Susan was enthuseastic about getting to paint, something she isn't allowed to do at home.  I might have teased her and asked if this was why.

I brought out my mountain lath artwork and gave it a new home.

We even got Chad's bear rug hung up.  Here are Melissa and Tracey helping me out.

The kitchen floors after being painted!  I'm so excited!  It looks so much better.  Next on the list this summer is to make the countertops.

What a difference the painted floor makes!

It is starting to feel like a home now and not a construction project.

A weekend without kids and husbands, something we must do again!
