Woodworking projects

It all started with this kitchen island that Matt built in a house he is renovating.  He used the lath that was in a wall he tore out.  It inspired me to make some art projects I had seen on Esty.

First I made this one.

Then I made this one.

I then made one more project for a friends wedding that is coming up this summer.

By now I had the saws and clamps moved out of the barn, cleaned up and in the garage so why not make a few more useful things?  I rediscovered a women's woodworking blog and used its plans to make this bike rack for the kids.

I may have made it, but I figured they could paint it.

Here it is finished and in use.

As I continued on in these projects it became painfully obvious that our garage was not well designed for much more than car and bike storage.  There is only one outlet and two, single bulb lights.  One Saturday morning it occurred to us that the shed had multiple outlets and plenty of lighting.  The above picture is what it looked like before we cleaned it out.

Once cleaned out we started building a work bench.

Once it was finished we moved a lot of the tools that had previously been collecting dust in the barn into the shed.

Even the kids got into it.  Here is Nora and our neighbor Ruby making some project of their own.

The boys expressing some of their own creativity.

I am still working on one project after another, here are some shelves I made for storage above the toilet.  They are meant for the cabin, but I put them in our bathroom to see how well they would work.
