After saying goodbye to our friends we drove south to Colorado to visit my dad’s recently started cabin. We arrived early afternoon in time for the kids to explore and play.
The cabin site. The white rectangle is the plastic and re-bar for the footings of the foundation.

Dad needed help unloading re-bar from the trailer and the kids jumped at the chance to help out.
On our way to dinner in town we stopped to visit some neighbors. They had started construction on their place at the beginning of the summer and had just about enclosed it in. They did it all with no outside help.
The kids got acquainted with the local chipmunks.

A picture is worth a thousand words!

This picture was taken from the neighbors looking across the valley at Dad's place. The white spot against the trees is Dad's camper.
After dinner we came back and set up the tent in the only flat spot available, the construction site. We had to climb over the forms for the footings to get to the tent.

It was a chilly Colorado night in the 40's but we slept well. Mika at some point in the night climbed onto the kids air mattress for some warmth. In the morning we packed up and headed home and left the beautiful mountains behind us.
